is a Veteran Support News Network that has many functions. Services include:
-Reporting on businesses that offer support to Veterans on a continuing basis throughout the year.
-Verification that these businesses are continually providing support.
-Instructional posts and videos for people who want to send gifts, letters or care packages to military personnel.
This is a new direction from what we had before.
Between 2013 and 2014 we were providing a service that sent brass coins minted with the words "Thinking of You" along with notes from caring individuals. Hence the name "Brass Peace"
The Brass Peace Gifts looked like the image below:
A total of 1,058 were sent to military personnel overseas including all branches to Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen.
An additional 46 were distributed in the U.S. through gifts, promotions and a few sales for a total of 1,104. We still have ~ 200 coins not distributed.
There were 5,000 made.
So, where's the rest?
Well, to be honest, we kept them in the garage. Bad idea.Someone stole the rest. They are made of red brass. We assume it was for the scrap value and we think it was stolen by a person addicted to Heroin. We cannot divulge who we think it was.
Why did you start Brass Peace in the first place?
Letter from Mike back in 2013...
" My father and mother were my inspiration..."
Please allow me to thank everyone I've received encouragement from.
I've always wanted to make people happy. As becoming a comedian was never an option, I've always tried to come up with a way to enhance people's lives in a positive direction. Smiling, listening, and always learning helped in these areas. I've never being very competitive, but I LOVE a good thinking challenge and love even more to just be creative.
Challenge is Great...
I believe whenever there is a challenge, the pressure is put on, an enhanced creativity starts to brew and amazing things happen. I'm endlessly fascinated by people's imagination and what they can create out of seemingly nothing. That is power. Thoughts are powerful!
Thoughts are Powerful...
So... if someone receives information that you are thinking of them; those powerful thoughts are transformed into an even more powerful feeling inside of them. This feeling will help and drive them through tough times. I know...
I saw this when my Mother would send letters, seemingly every week to friends and relatives with her thoughts and encouragement...
I saw this when my Father would exchange letters with his fellow crewman years and years after the war.
I saw this... when I looked in a box in the attic...
The Whole Story...
The cardboard was ruffled and torn. Holding a flashlight, I noticed large writing in black marker which read, "Mom's stuff" on one flap of the box. Peeling away the top of the box, I saw in a corner next to a stack of cookbooks and the bible, a neatly arranged set of opened and yet, full envelopes.
Within these envelopes were letter upon letter between my Dad and my Mother (then his girlfriend) from when he was serving in the Army Air Corps in WWII. The ability to bond through these letters gave them both hope and encouragement. These two major feelings combined with constant communication kept that budding relationship alive all the way through the time he came home.
Hope, encouragement and communication are the staples of every great relationship.
So, my father and mother were my inspiration.
I wanted to start something that my wife and I could do together that would pay for itself without asking for donations... so I started Brass Peace.
Thinking of you,
